Gracie Barra is a worldwide community of Jiu-Jitsu instructors, students and athletes. The organisation is built by over 700 schools in six continents.

The Gracie Barra class structure is the trademark of all Gracie Barra Schools. Classes start on time and adhere to a standardized curriculum and class structure. Students know up front what is expected of them and have a clear understanding of what to expect from their instructors and training partners. The consistency of this structure combined with the creativity and innovation of devoted instructors blend perfectly to facilitate Gracie Barra's progress.

Gracie Barra Hunter Valley was founded in 2013 by Professor Gene DeCrewis (Genão) “ I believe Brazilian Jiu Jitsu will change your life”.

The Gracie Barra school in the Hunter Valley welcomes everyone who is looking to get in shape, learn self-defence, and improve the overall quality of their lives. A typical Gracie Barra adult student starts with an introductory class, where he or she will learn the overall self-defence strategy of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and participate in a class with other students. Adult students will begin in the Gracie Barra GB1 Program which is designed for beginners. After four (4) months of training and learning the techniques in the GB1 curriculum, the student will then progress into the Gracie Barra GB2 Program.

Gracie Barra kids are also offered a free trial class in the appropriate aged class. At Gracie Barra Hunter Valley we have GBK – Little Champions II (ages 5-9) and the GBK Juniors (aged 10-15). Kids can attend any or all of the aged appropriate classes on the schedule for GBK programs.

During our classes, you will find that the techniques of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu are based on leverage and do not necessarily require strength or speed. It doesn’t matter if you’ve ever practised martial arts before. At Gracie Barra Hunter Valley you will find a healthy and friendly environment where you will learn and develop, step by step, all the physical skills necessary to perform Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Our school has members of all ages and skill levels. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is truly for everybody. You don’t have to be a fighter to train with us. All that is required is an open mind, a willingness to learn and the desire to be part of the most traditional martial arts community in the world. Our programs are open to men, women and children.
